Audiovisual Technologies
One basic type of audio technology could be the audiocassette player. If you had students who could not read as well as other students or if you had students who learn better when the material is read to them, the cassette player is the way to go. This would also allow the teacher to see if his/her students are actually paying attention and learning the material. Using this type of audio technology would also ensure you as a teacher that your students are on the same page and that is being left behind.
One emerging thing for audio technology would be the internet audio. Teachers can now choose what part of a plan they want the class to listen to instead of wasting valuable class time and listening to an entire lesson. If a class had to sit and listen to a long recording, they may become bored and cause them to stop paying attention. I believe internet audio would be helpful to use if you wanted to make sure everyone stays on the same page because they will all have the opportunity to review anything on the internet as much as they need.
One traditional form of visual technology would bebulletin boards. I plan to teach Physical education, and a bulletin board could allow me to let my students know exactly what needs to be done each class and allow students to keep a progress chart of what they accomplished in class. This would allow me and my classroom to be on a set schedule and make accomplishing tasks as a team very simple.
A document camera could be used as an emerging technology tool for visual things. I would tell any history or science/biology teacher to use this in their classroom. It would make it easy for a teacher to show precious artifacts or even a dissection to a class so they can better understand what is being showed. A document camera is a simple tool that can be used by almost anyone. This would allow the classroom to see and know everything that is going on without having to waste class time having to ask question after question.
